The new landmark for Venlo unites imaginative architecture, state-of-the-art sustainability and optimal user experience in one seamless concept

For Holland Casino Venlo, Arcadis provided the structural design for the new iconic building close to the crossing A67 and A73 motorways. Holland Casino offers an extensive range of table games and slot machines, as well as opportunities to dine and enjoy performances by well-known Dutch artists. All these functions are housed within a colorful building facade with special interactive LED lighting.

The building has an integrated sustainability concept, which means that, among other things, the shape of the building already contributes to the collection of rainwater. In addition, solar cells have been integrated into the roof and the "parking flowers" blow air into the building. In this way, the building absorbs energy, water and air from the immediate surroundings, just as a living organism does.

The main load-bearing structure of the building consists of a combination of wood, steel and concrete, using each material where best fit for purpose. Most striking in this respect is the central tree and roof structure in the heart of the building, which is made of wood in order to make the sustainability of the building immediately visible.
